How People Are Battling Addictions Are Continuing Treatment During COVID-19
For Michiganders struggling with addiction, the challenges they face are only made worse by the financial strain and self-quarantining so many of us are dealing with.
But even with new hurdles, folks fighting addiction can still make a personal rebound.
“You know, as much as people seeking recovery rely on the support, we rely on that face to face contact, too,” Andrew Brown with CARE Southeast Michigan said.
Brown is a peer recovery coach and started his recovery journey in 2007.
Brown said while times are stressful, there are resources available for people fighting addiction no matter where you are in your recovery. Those resources are virtual, and there are also alternatives to traditional therapy like Recovery Yoga from Detroit Recovery Project.
“Yoga is really taken off. A lot of people, including people I work with directly, have really said, hey, the yoga groups been super great to help me, you know, just put my mind at ease.”
