CARE and Senior Outpatient Services
Senior Outpatient Treatment
Many older adults struggle accessing treatment for alcohol and other drug abuse in outpatient treatment settings. CARE helps older adults by providing home-based treatment services and peer recovery coaches.
Home-based Treatment Services
Accessing services outside the home is often an obstacle for older adults, which is why CARE can provide some treatment in the home to help connect seniors with the appropriate resources and treatment. Are you concerned about your own or a loved one’s substance use? If leaving the home for services is preventing you or someone you know from getting the help they need, please call CARE at (586) 541-2273 to schedule a home visit.
Senior Peer Recovery Coaches
Senior Peer Recovery Coaches form helpful and trusting relationships with older adults to help them in their recovery from substance use disorders. Coaches are people living a life of sustained recovery themselves, so they have the empathy and personal experience with substance abuse which enables them to form genuine connections with their clients. By providing a range of person-centered and strength-based supports for long-term recovery, coaches help their clients create their own recovery plans and develop their own recovery pathways.
Our Senior Peer Recovery Coaches motivate and educate by establishing a healing partnership with their clients. With a Coach’s support, older adults will help someone on their path to recovery. The unique relationship between the Senior Peer Recovery Coach and their client focuses on providing the tools, resources, and support to achieve long-term recovery.
There are many benefits to having the support of a peer recovery coach, including:
- improved relationship with treatment providers
- connection with community resources
- increased satisfaction with overall treatment
- increased likelihood of staying in treatment
- improved access to social supports
